This was rendered in what? I'll try my own with it... to make a smoother floor lighting, if nothing else.

It was done in 3D Max 2008 and render in Vray

A combined CPU/GPU renderer, relatively easy to use, based on NVidia's iray. If you have a beefed-up graphic card, it might worth a look. On my GTX690, it's a killer :}

i'm trying to use caustics for the glass in my render... i cant get rid of those damn spots lol

Caustics are very computationally expensive. The "damn spots" are your first approximations on how the caustics will look. It's a very rough result at first, which is why it's that grainy. Running the renderer longer (until it has figured them out at higher res) gets rid of them. For me, rendering that pic of mine took cca 1 hour.

Wow, it looks amazing! But i'm not sure about that ground reflection (the colored), overall it looks good :)
